Analog Fiber Optic Transceiver

ECHO RF Solution provides various fiber optic products including fiber optic transceiver and components for this module such as WDM, coupler, laser diode and photo diode.

The fiber optic transceiver consists of a transmitting part (Donor unit) that converts RF signal into optic signal and a receiving part (Remote unit) that converts optic signal into RF signal. The donor receives RF signal from the base station, and this signal is combined with modem signal (29 TX) in the donor unit. This combined signal is converted to optic signal through the LD and transferred to the PD in the remote unit, where RF and modem signals are separated.

The modem signal (29.9 MHz) is delivered to the modem (29 RX) for TTL communications (Interface: D-9PIN), while the RF signal is output through the TX OUT port for the DUT. TX and RX paths use different wavelengths, but both can be transmitted through a single optical cable using WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexer).

WDM supports broadband wavelength (1310 ± 40 nm & 1550 ± 40 nm), and the WDM in the donor unit can cover signals from multiple remote units. These fiber optic modules are mainly used to solve radio shadow areas in communication systems.

Star (1:1) and Cascade (1:N) configurations up to 5-Wave are available depending on customer requirements, and both Analog and Digital fiber optic modules can be designed. Transmission distance supports up to 20 km with single fiber, and up to 100 km is possible when applying EDFA.
